Story spoilers

Although Shinobu appears to be about eight years old, she was originally a beautiful vampire who had lived for more than 500 years under the name Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade. Before becoming a vampire, she was a princess famed for extraordinary beauty and known as Acerola or Princess Beauty. Deathtopia Virtuoso Suicide-Master eventually turned her into a vampire to save her from the curse tied to that beauty.
