Story spoilers
She is her village's sole survivor. Tuka's father dies protecting her. Unable to accept the loss, she initially acts as if he is still at the base and later begins calling Itami "father." Itami eventually takes her on the hunt for the Flame Dragon, where she helps defeat it and avenges her father, though she continues calling Itami "father" afterward, claiming it has become a habit.
