Tick Jefferson is a perpetually smiling young man who carries a pair of scissors and works for the Gandor family. The son of a clockmaker, he was sold to Luck Gandor by his stepfather as payment for an unpaid loan. Tick's fascination with scissors extends into the violent work he performs for the Gandors.
