Jaromír Lipský is a puppeteer living in Czechoslovakia whose performances attract no audience, so he washes dishes at a restaurant in the evenings to earn money.

When Anna collapses at the Mansion of Red Roses, Lipský takes her and Dieter in and cares for her for three months. He is later revealed to be the son of Franz Bonaparta and a former student at the Mansion of Red Roses, where his father held reading sessions for children.
