Houtarou Oreki

Houtarou Oreki is a quiet high-school student whose tired appearance and apparent laziness reflect his determination to “save energy.” Although he avoids activities he considers wasteful, he is intelligent, perceptive, and still completes his schoolwork.

His sister orders him to join the Classics Club to prevent it from being disbanded. Once involved, Houtarou proves exceptionally skilled at solving mysteries, often holding his bangs while thinking through a problem.
