Futaba Yoshioka is a 17-year-old girl who once avoided most boys, making an exception for the quiet, slight Kou, with whom she shared a brief mutual attraction. Kou then moved away without warning.
After other boys began paying attention to Futaba, girls at school alienated her. By high school, she deliberately avoids acting too feminine in hopes of preventing the same social isolation from happening again.
