Zashiki-warashi
ざしきわらしBiography
Zashiki-warashi are house spirits originating in Iwate Prefecture. Mischievous but believed to bring good fortune, they appear as young children with red, blushing faces and traditional clothing. In some stories only children or the owners of a house can see them, leaving their pranks as the clearest sign of their presence.
