Zangetsu
斬月Kokui no Otoko (黒衣の男)
Biography
Zangetsu is the spirit associated with Ichigo Kurosaki's zanpakutō, appearing as a man whom Ichigo calls "old man." Generally wise and calm, he often tests Ichigo in unusual ways.
Story spoilers
Zangetsu has displayed the ability to temporarily close fatal wounds during combat. His Bankai is Tensa Zangetsu, an unusually compact form that turns the weapon into a black long sword and changes Ichigo's clothing. Within the Bankai's inner realm, the spirit seems much younger, around Ichigo's age.
