Story spoilers
Before launch, Yuri recognizes her squadron leader as Amuro Ray and remembers meeting him as a child at her mother's funeral during the One Year War. In the ensuing battle, she uses the Red Zeta's Psycho Neutralizer to seize control of the Geminus's remote hand and crush its head, destroying it. The Red Zeta and the burning wreckage then fall toward Earth, after which Yuri is seen resting in a forest on the palm of a giant Buddha statue.
