Yoshiyuki Arai

Yoshiyuki Arai is the original homeroom teacher of Sawako's class. Although he shares a surname with Pin, they are unrelated, so he is called "Zen" to distinguish them. He seems uneasy around Sawako and the rumors surrounding "Sadako," and because he falls ill easily, students sometimes believe she has cursed him. Arai is newly married.
