Character profile
Yoshimori Sumimura
墨村良守Biography
Yoshimori Sumimura is the twenty-second Kekkaishi of the Sumimura family, a stubborn and headstrong protector who has cared for Tokine since childhood. He would often rather bake than perform his duties and dreams of becoming a pâtissier. Compared with Tokine, Yoshimori lacks speed and precision but compensates with exceptional raw power, stamina, and unusually large kekkai.
Story spoilers
Gen's death pushes Yoshimori to seek greater strength. His most extreme barrier state is eventually revealed to be a different technique called Shinkai rather than a fully powered zekkai. After special training with Shimano, Yoshimori learns the focused state called musou, later gains the ability to enter it at will, summons his landlord Shiguma, and can create numerous extremely durable kekkai with little visible strain. He is also revealed to be exceptionally compatible with Karasumori and potentially able to draw on its immense spiritual reservoir.
