Biography
Nalan Yanran is a human and Xiao Yan's former fiancée; their engagement was called off after he lost his cultivation. She is cold toward people whose strength she does not know or who are weaker than her, while respecting those stronger than herself.
Story spoilers
Later, she makes a promise with Xiao Yan about a battle in three years to determine whether he will officially cancel the engagement. Xiao Yan appears as Yan Xiao, shows his battle prowess and makes Yanran fall for him before revealing himself as the victor, leaving her to regret her past actions.
