Wahanly Shume is a close friend of Lashara and a brilliant inventor, especially gifted with heavy artillery, gunpowder, and machinery despite being a poor shot. She studied under Lord Naua and has a brown, bull-horned Seikijin built for heavy combat. Although she looks about 15, she is actually 97 because time flowed more slowly in the Field Workshop where she once lived.
Story spoilers
Wahanly later creates the steam-powered Kikkoujin and develops equipment including a wireless energy source for training suits, and procures a gravity-cancelling ring for Kenshi's compacted stone sword. During Kenshi's final battle with Gaia, she proposes overcharging the sekishin barrier reactor and using it against Gaia.
