星野鉄郎Biography
Tetsurou Hoshino is a poor boy from Earth who dreams of obtaining a machine body. Unable to afford one, he sets his sights on a distant planet said to give machine bodies away for free. When Maetel offers him an unlimited pass for the Galaxy Express 999 in exchange for traveling together, Tetsurou accepts and begins a journey across the stars.
Story spoilers
Tetsurou wants revenge on Count Mecha for killing his mother. The story also implies, without confirming, that Captain Harlock may be Tetsurou's father.
