Story spoilers
Teruhiko is the only son and successor of the Japanese bear family line. After his father dies, his mother and grandmother pressure him to have a child to preserve the family line. Because surrogacy is too expensive, they expect Teruhiko to carry the child himself before he has even finished high school, an idea he strongly dislikes.
