Story spoilers
Teni's childhood includes severe abuse and the death of her father in self-defense. In the manga, her attempt to assassinate Ryomou and recover the Gyokuji ends with Ryomou's dragon tearing off Teni's right arm and leaving her in a coma. The anime changes the encounter: she keeps her arm but is badly injured and is later shown fully recovered. In the video game, Shiba-I's disappearance drives Teni into an increasingly destructive search for her.
