Tae-Jun Kan is the second son of Fire Tribe General Kan Soo-Jin. Pampered, arrogant, cowardly, and obsessed with Yona, he initially wants to marry her so he can inherit Kouka's throne. Despite his high position in the Fire Tribe, he is initially ignorant of the hardships facing villages outside the capital.
Story spoilers
After witnessing the citizens' hardships firsthand, Tae-Jun recognizes the poor state of the Fire Tribe and the failings of its system. He grows to respect Yona and promises to protect the tribe for her sake.
