Subaru Hoshina has been Kaoruko's closest friend since middle school. Considered exceptionally pretty by her peers, she is withdrawn and especially uncomfortable talking with boys. Protective of Kaoruko, she initially disapproves of her relationship with Rintarou and the others.
Story spoilers
Subaru later recognizes the boys’ kindness. Even after becoming friendly with the Chidori boys, Subaru worries that she does not truly belong with them. With support from Kaoruko and the others, she reaffirms those friendships and grows comfortable enough to tease Saku and bring him birthday presents.
