Story spoilers
She eventually warms to Kaori and Tadashi and comes to treasure them because of their friendly spirit. Shiori is secretly an apostle of Index, the largest magical organization in the world of 11eyes and 3days, where her name is Ursula of the Bookshelf. She transfers to Kakeru's school to monitor it after the previous warden disappears and is a candidate for the next 14 saints, Index's highest officials. Her family line is cursed to be born without eyeballs; in Shiori's case, the curse is worse and she could not even move a finger. Her current body is a magical artifact containing her transplanted brain and nervous system and able to hold 5,000 magical books.
