Story spoilers
Tokizane later confesses his feelings after discovering Saya's secret and appears to die in a Furukimono attack, but the death is staged: he is actually part of the experiment's Main Cast and apparently joined for money. He defects when offered more, helps force Saya toward recovering her memories, and reveals a colder, impatient personality. He is ultimately killed by the Furukimono Cerberus.
