He never truly cared about Planet and sees other players, including Pico, as means to obtain the prize money for capturing the Black Bird. In real life, he seems to be a failed musician struggling to pay rent on a rented apartment. After encountering the Black Bird, he becomes trapped in an endless simulation, dying repeatedly.
