Sakura Hanazono is a friendly, cheerful 16-year-old and one of Misaki's close friends at Seika High. Like the school's other girls, she relies on Misaki for protection from the boys' unruly behavior and holds Misaki in high regard, even defending her when Kuuga insults her.
Story spoilers
Sakura is popular with boys but repeatedly rejects confessions, including one suitor a hundred times. She develops persistent feelings for Kuuga, a singer from nearby Yumesaki High, despite Shizuko's doubts about how carefully Sakura judges the people she falls for.
