Story spoilers
Rey was a human female Jedi Master. Despite her commitment to the Jedi Order and the light side of the Force, she felt a pull toward the dark side because of her anger and adversarial relationship with Ben Solo, whom she knew as Kylo Ren. Their unique Force bond resulted from their nature as a dyad in the Force.
