Biography
Ren is a DearS whom Takeya finds after her suspension pod is lost and breaks open during transport. Initially nameless, she receives "Ren" from the first word of her identification number and imprints on Takeya. Unfamiliar with human customs, she nevertheless learns Japanese from textbooks in a single night and has a huge appetite for melon bread.
Story spoilers
In the DearS language, "Ren" means "zero," revealing her as one of the imperfect Zero-Numbers, a status not intended for public knowledge. DearS law also treats her decision to choose her own master as the sacred "Gift."
