Reiji Kokonoe is Rin's second cousin once removed and her guardian. The two share a very close bond, and Reiji is intensely protective of her, particularly when it comes to Aoki.
Story spoilers
Before Rin's mother Aki died, Reiji had been in love with her. After becoming Rin's official guardian, his unresolved grief causes him to project his feelings for Aki onto Rin.
