Nui

Nui is a Mushishi and the series narrator, a traveling specialist whose exposure to the Ginko Mushi leaves her with white hair and only one eye. She comes from an isolated mountain village, smokes Mushi-Tobacco to repel Mushi, and once finds and cares for an injured boy named Yoki.
Story spoilers
Nui later discovers that her husband, child, parents, and friends have been transformed into Tokoyami by the Ginko. She chooses to expose herself to the Ginko's light and becomes Tokoyami as well. Before disappearing completely, she guides Yoki, telling him that escape will cost him his memories and one eye; the Ginko then consumes what remains of her.
