Nanami Jinnai is Jinnai's younger sister by about a year, an independent and strongly entrepreneurial young woman who has feelings for Makoto.

After arriving alone in El-Hazard, Nanami works as a waitress to earn enough money to travel and later starts a small business selling boxed lunches to visiting priestesses. In the first OVA continuity, entering El-Hazard gives her the ability to see through the Phantom Tribe's illusions. In The Wanderers, where the Phantom Tribe does not exist, Nanami instead has the same power as her brother to communicate with the Bugrom.
