Character profile
Munsu
文秀/문수General / Legendary
Biography
Munsu is an anti-heroic third mahai angyo onshi from the fallen kingdom of Jushin. Far from the idealized image of a virtuous agent of justice, he is willing to use lies, violence, torture, and other ruthless methods and has little sympathy for people who refuse to help themselves.
Story spoilers
Munsu carries a curse resembling asthma that he took from his lover Kye Wol Hyang in an unsuccessful attempt to spare her. He later reveals that she died by running onto his sword, though he still blames himself. After a drug temporarily suppresses the curse, severe side effects leave him near death; an acupuncture needle containing mandrake extract allows him to escape death but traps him in a hallucinatory world of his deepest wishes.
