Minagi Tohno

Minagi Tohno is the top student in her classes but is extremely shy, with Michiru as her only friend. She loves astronomy, creates the Astronomy Club with Michiru, and pressures Yukito into joining. Her parents are separated, with her mother at home and her father away working as a train conductor.
Story spoilers
Minagi's family situation is later tied to her mother's grief after a miscarriage and her belief that a daughter named Michiru had been born instead of Minagi. The Michiru whom Minagi knows eventually reveals herself as a wandering spirit who came to make a sad girl happy and disappears once Minagi finds peace. Minagi then learns that her father has remarried and had a daughter who is also named Michiru and looks exactly like her friend.
