Mikan Tachibana

Mikan Tachibana is a 17-year-old public high school student with a long, stressful commute. Easygoing and fun-loving, she can shift between traditionally feminine and tomboyish behavior. Her close friends include the calm Shimi-chan and karaoke-loving Yukarin, while Mikan herself has a crush on Iwaki and often clashes with his wisecracking friend Yoshioka. She enjoys karaoke, sweets and making teddy bears, belongs to the school's Bear Brigade, and dreams of becoming a teddy-bear or fashion designer. Academically she gets by, but poor note-taking and heavy sleeping frequently cause problems.
