Story spoilers
Mika's orange eye may be an implant. Her fixation on Kaon is implied to stem from memories of a nurse who cared for her after injuries sustained during the Days of Hot Snow. Before her death, Mika entrusts Himiko with rescuing Kaon from Kazuya and gives her the key to a device designed to suppress Mana.
