Story spoilers
Masuzu actually dislikes romance and blackmails Eita into posing as her boyfriend so the confessions will stop. In the fourth novel, she admits that she initially hated him because he alone seemed unaffected by her appearance and reveals a sadistic side she hides from others. She also has a difficult relationship with her father in Sweden and refuses to return while searching for her mother. At the end of the anime, Eita chooses Masuzu over the other girls.
