Biography
Mariko, also known as Number 35, is a young third-generation Silpelit who spent her infancy imprisoned in a steel container, with a scientist communicating through speakers and monitors as her closest form of human contact. Her limbs are atrophied and she uses a wheelchair. She is sadistic and enjoys violence, treating it like a child playing with toys.
Story spoilers
Mariko is Kurama's five-year-old daughter, born a Silpelit after he became a carrier of the Diclonius virus. The institute implants bombs in her body to keep her under control; one is used to remove her arm, and Kurama later orders the remaining explosives detonated while embracing her, killing both father and daughter.
