Biography
Marie is a mysterious girl who appears in Ren’s dreams. Her true name and background are initially unknown, and she may even seem like a product of his imagination. She appears as a maiden of twilight who sings an ominous refrain with an angelic smile and bears a scar across her neck.

Marie is Margueritte Breuli, born during France’s Reign of Terror at the exact moment her father carries out a guillotine execution. Mute for her first ten years, she later begins singing about filling guillotines with blood as a curse manifests that decapitates anyone who touches her. She is eventually condemned as a witch and executed at age 17 by the same guillotine beneath which she was born. Her soul then rises to the level of a Transcendence God and remains on the Twilight Beach. Mercurius later finds her, falls in love with her, and manipulates events in hopes of dying in her embrace and having her succeed him on the throne.
