Maria is a girl who closely resembles Jo and expresses a desire to hurt her, attempting to take Meg for herself.
Story spoilers
Maria was artificially created and is discovered to be Jo's "sister." After Jo defeats her, she loses the drive to fight and tries to save Jo and Meg from RAPT forces. She is later killed by heavy gunfire from RAPT Cybots.
