Biography
Makoto Soda is a fast, fearsome defender who knows how to injure opponents with tackles without the referee noticing. He puts effects on passes and shots and is impulsive enough to get into fights.
Story spoilers
Against Nankatsu, Soda gives Tsubasa a hard time and injures Tsubasa's leg, though Nankatsu wins. Soda is selected for All Japan Jr. Youth and is sent off against France after two yellow cards while marking Napoleon. In World Youth, he does not join the J-League after high school so he can focus on the national team, is cast away by Gamo because his soccer has only one pattern, then trains and returns improved for the second round of the Asian preliminaries. In Road to 2002, he joins Gamba Osaka.
