Lan's original designation is C; Gingetsu gives him the name Lan. C was one of three three-leaf clovers labeled A, B and C, and Lan is the only one still living. While living away from the Clover Project research facility, he ages quickly. He knows his life will end in five years but still wants to remain away, both for freedom and especially to be near the person most important to him.
