Kuchiha
朽葉Biography
Kuchiha is a swordswoman with a Dog God, or Inugami, living inside her, which causes humans to despise her. She saves Tokidoki from the nue and initially hates optimistic, naïve people like him, but warms to him over the course of the series. She usually wears her hair in a long ponytail, has a big appetite, and shares a love-to-hate friendship with Kon.
Story spoilers
As a child, Kuchiha is named by her grandfather, who hopes she will be the last of the family. After her grandfather dies, she becomes unable to tend to herself and lives alone in the shack where they had lived together. Kanzou finds her there while she is unable to speak and tends to her needs. When he leaves to find a place where she would belong and tells her to wait, she walks away, becomes lost, and is separated from him; the monk Shamon takes her in and she learns to talk again. Years later, Kanzou tells her that their destinies are bound because she is the dog god and he is the dog god's destined servant, Shirachigo (Gazu Hyakki Yakou). Believing Kanzou abandoned her, Kuchiha initially refuses to go with him before conceding. Later, she saves Tokidoki from the vortex by fighting the monster and cuts her hair after the monster gets a grip on her. Rikugou jumps in after her, confesses his love, and is bitten in the neck; Kuchiha remains stuck in the vortex while Tokidoki and Kanzou are concerned.
