Kratos has a secret agenda but also takes a genuine interest in Lloyd's growth as a warrior, training him in swordsmanship through a side quest. Despite his long life and experience, he remains fatalistic for much of the story until Lloyd's actions persuade him that Mithos's path is not the only way to save the worlds and that he still has control over his own choices.
