Kirara is a Mikumari, or water maiden, from Kanna Village who helps search for samurai to bring back to her village. Her water necklace detects groundwater, appears able to read people's hearts and glows when she has a strong emotional reaction.
Story spoilers
After the final battle with Ukyo, Kirara passes both her pendant and the title of water priestess to her younger sister Komachi, believing her own soul has been tainted by battle.
