Biography
Kenshin Himura is a wandering swordsman once known as Hitokiri Battousai. He travels Japan helping people in need while maintaining a vow never to kill again, eventually arriving in Tokyo and meeting Kaoru Kamiya.
Story spoilers
Kenshin was originally named Shinta and trained under Seijuro Hiko in Hiten Mitsuruugi Ryu. During the Revolution he became Battousai, married Tomoe, and her death by his own hand became a decisive reason for his vow never to kill again.
