Karla
カーラCarla / The Grey Witch
Biography
Karla, the Grey Witch, is the sole survivor of an ancient Magic Kingdom and has influenced Lodoss for more than 500 years. Karla believes Lodoss can survive only by maintaining a balance between peace and chaos, so she provokes conflict in peaceful eras and pushes for peace during wars.
Story spoilers
Her original body is long gone; her soul resides in a golden circlet and periodically possesses human hosts. Although Karla initially appears aligned with Beld and Ashram, she ultimately cares less about who wins than about preserving that balance. After helping first to foster war and then to restore peace, she disappears once Lodoss stabilizes, with the expectation that she will return if history tips too far again.
