Kakeru Niimi is the protagonist and a second-year student at Hakusen Academy. Blunt but dependable and responsible, he joins Kujo in investigating the town's mysterious petrification incidents after learning about Artifacts.

According to Sophitia, Kakeru is himself an Artifact User, though he is unaware of this and his ability remains unknown.
