Kai Kogashiwa

Kai Kogashiwa is a street racer from Tochigi and the son of Ken Kogashiwa, a legendary downhill racer and rival of Bunta. Trained from a young age through karting, Kai specializes in mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive cars and was once the fastest motorcyclist on Irohazaka. He initially drives his father's Toyota SW20 MR2.
Story spoilers
Kai challenges Takumi on Irohazaka and uses a jump taught by his father to overtake him, but spins out near the finish and loses. He later races Project D as Racing Team Katagiri's downhill ace in Kanagawa, where another spin costs him the race, and eventually switches to a silver Toyota MR-S ZZW30.
