Story spoilers
Faust once cured Eliza's deadly illness, married her, and lived with her in a clinic in Germany until a burglar killed her. He then embraced necromancy in hopes of bringing her back; Eliza herself becomes his spirit, while her skeleton serves as his medium. After defeating Yoh in battle, Faust later joins him and helps fight Hao.
