Iwao Washizu

Iwao Washizu is a wealthy and extraordinarily influential old man whose power stems from shady postwar dealings and consultations. Fearful of his approaching death, he lures young men into gambling their lives for enormous payouts in Washizu Mahjong, a variant using mostly translucent tiles that emphasizes bluffing and psychological manipulation. His tremendous luck, cunning, resourcefulness, and stubbornness make him a formidable opponent for Akagi.
