Story spoilers
Houki's older sister Tabane created the IS. Six years earlier, Ichika had agreed to become Houki's boyfriend if she won their grade's national kendo tournament, but the public debut of the IS placed her family under government protection and forced her to withdraw. Houki blames Tabane for separating her from Ichika and disrupting their family. She pilots the Aka Tsubaki IS.
