Story spoilers
Hime became mayor at nine and asked Yae to seal the townspeople's memories that she is a demon so she could judge situations from both human and demon perspectives. This also caused Akina to forget her true nature and the scarf he made to hide the scar left when Yae sealed Hime's powers. Hime has had a romantic interest in Akina since receiving that scarf.
