Character profile
Hermes
エルメスBiography
Hermes is a talking motorrad and Kino's traveling companion. Pessimistically realistic and prone to complaining, he often provides comic relief, yet he is also dependable and intelligent, capable of analyzing complex physical situations. His attempts to quote famous sayings frequently go wrong and invite corrections from Kino.
Story spoilers
Hermes was originally found broken in an alley and repaired by the original Kino and an eleven-year-old child. After the original Kino is killed, the child escapes the Land of Adults on Hermes; when Hermes calls the child "Kino," they accept the name in honor of the traveler who saved them.
