Hans Kleif is Keiji's new partner, a laid-back, womanizing German man who gradually comes to trust Keiji enough to confide in him about his fears as an amnesiac.
Story spoilers
Hans is eventually revealed to be an artificially created boomer whose memories were implanted for an experiment. Anguished by this realization, he asks Keiji to kill him if he ever loses the remaining aspects of his humanity. Keiji ultimately honors the request and shoots Hans dead in the finale.
